Rafael Pombo (Colombia, 1833–1912) es uno de los grandes poetas latinoamericanos. La pobre viejecita es uno de sus poemas más conocidos. Rafael Pombo (Colombia, 1833–1912) is one of the greatest poets of Latin America. The Poor Old Woman is one of his most well known poems. With its humor, irony, it shows a bit of the human spirit as it contrasts a woman's material riches with her poor spirit. The symmetrical illustrations of Maguma emphasize the parallels in the story which helps all ages access Pombo's rich poetry.
